DEIF PMS solutions for feed barges control the onboard gensets to deliver the required power in any operating scenario. The genset controllers contain proprietary fuel optimisation logic developed by DEIF that helps them select and run gensets in the most fuel-efficient way possible.
Outside feeding hours, the barge load requirement can be met using a small genset. When feeding starts, and the load requirement peaks, the PMS switches to a larger genset to cover the demand, switching back to the small genset when high power output is no longer necessary.
If the barge is supplied with power from an onshore connection, the DEIF PMS can also accommodate and control this connection, switching to onboard gensets if the shore power supply becomes unstable.
A barge will typically have two large gensets (one active, one for redundancy). The DEIF PMS switches to the redundant genset in case the active genset fails.
